Planiplax sanguiniventris (Mexican Scarlet-tail)

This is one that I got wrong at first, thinking that it was Erythemis peruviana (Flame-tailed Pondhawk) – for which I don’t now have red-tailed male. Mature males of both species have a red-abdomen with the basal segment looking darker and with a dark, pruinose thorax. The dark hindwing patches of P. sanguiniventris are key.
