This is one of 5 Dancers in Group 2 – those with thorax and abdominal segments mostly blue. According to the notes, A. chelata (Big Blue Dancer) “is distinctly larger than the others in the group” and “of all the dancers in Costa Rica, this is the heaviest. Such distinctions may be useful in a side by side comparison but when looking at an individual photograph they aren’t a great deal of help.
I have been guided by one of Phil’s observations and by the thoracic markings. This was seen at PN Rincon de la Vieja.
