Dancers are divided into groups, of which there are 7. This is one of 5 Dancers in Group 2 – those with thorax and abdominal segments mostly blue.
According to the notes, A. chelata (Big Blue Dancer):
is distinctly larger than the others in the group …
and
of all the dancers in Costa Rica, this is the heaviest.
Such distinctions may be useful in a side by side comparison but when looking at an individual photograph they aren’t a great deal of help. I have been guided by one of Phil’s observations and by the thoracic markings.
