Austrocordulia refracta (Eastern Hawk)

A fairly dull common name for what is essentially rather dull, brown dragonfly but spectacular in that it is an Australian endemic and seems somewhat rarely photographed. It’s amazing how little information seems to be available for some of the Australian endemics.

One of our finds in the Carnarvon Gorge on the 2019 Odonatours trip to southeast Queensland. At least I managed two different angles on this one.

Id Notes

  • medium sized dull brown dragonfly
  • light spear shape on the front of thorax
