Brachydiplax sobrina (Sombre Lieutenant)

One of the first dragonflies that I saw in Sri Lanka on our second day. It looked superficially like one I’d met in Singapore so I wasn’t that excited. Then I realized it was different and new to me, so things changed.

Like the majority of our finds in Sri Lanka, we met this species in one location only. This was at the lake in Kurunegala. It’s clearly pretty good at obelisks.
