An utterly delightful and completely unmistakable species with distinctive dark bands on all wings in both genders. We were fortunate enough to be shown a thriving colony of these in the Netherlands in 2022 by our very helpful local guide, Antoine van der Heijden. I had long wanted to see this species and was instantly captivated, as I knew I would be.
If anybody needs a list of identification pointers for these, there’s no hope. 😉
