Migrant vs Southern Migrant

Calling these both “migrant” hawkers may make them sound rather more similar than they.

There are quite a few distinguishing features, particularly for the males. One of the more useful features, IMO, visible from many angles, is the yellow “shoulder” shown by the Southern Migrant Hawker/Blue-eyed Hawker (Aeshna affinis). This latter is true for both male and female.
