Argia medullaris (Sky-blue Dancer)

Dennis Paulson’s Field Guide to Costa Rica features 28 Argia species, split into groups by basic colour variation. The majority of those are essentially blue and black jobs which can be tricky to identify.

This little delight is, in my view, the easiest to identify with the majority of its dorsal surface being a stunning blue colour. I saw just one example on the road up to La Reserva Bosque Nuboso Santa Elena.
