Rhodothemis rufa (Common Redbolt)

found in Cambodiafound in SingaporeVery aptly named in the vernacular sense – we saw examples of this species almost everywhere. Another of the red-bodied males from the region, the book says that Crocothemis servilia is similar but hat has a black line down the dorsal side of the abdomen, so I’m not convinced. This guy has a lighter red stripe (white in immatures) “between the shoulder blades” [my phrase], i.e. on the dorsal side of the thorax.
