This was definitely our most exciting find during a 2016 trip taking in Croatia. There are also colonies in Italy, Greece and on Sardinia, where a contact of mine also spotted it in 2016. We saw only one individual and that was a male. A female to complete the set would’ve been great but, hey, this was already great.
The length and distinctive flaps on S7-8 of its abdomen make this gomphid pretty much unmistakable in the European theatre.
