Elattoneura centralis (Sri Lanka Dark-glittering Threadtail)

This is a one of three Sri Lankan endemics that we encountered on our 2019 trip. Our single male specimen was on a narrow stream within a tea plantation/resort that we stayed on at Dickoya.

Being an essentially black damselfly that settled on a brightly illuminated light yellow rock, it was a tad tricky to photograph.

Id Notes

  • ♂ – glossy black with a metallic purple sheen
  • ♀ – lacking the purple sheen
  • ♀ – yellow latral stripes on thorax
  • ♀ – yellow underside to eyes
