Gomphus vulgatissimus (Common Clubtail/Club-tailed Dragonfly)

This is the only Clubtail to occur in Britain, the river Thames being one particular hot spot. Our first meeting was in France, though, on the banks of Le Loir.

Id Notes

  • A Gomphid so the eyes don’t meet
  • Immature males are yellow-coloured but turn pale green with age
  • Black legs
  • Antehumeral stripe narrower than adjoining black stripes (either side)
