The so-called riverside butterfly, I think because of the fluttering appearance caused by the outer dark wing patches of the males as they fly.
These are really delightful insects which, in the UK, have to be distinguished only from C. virgo (Beautiful Demoiselle). In parts of France, C. xanthostoma (Western Demoiselle) must also be considered. The females are generally the trickier to separate. My Demoiselle Comparison Chart may help clarify the differences.
